Icon Conference 2013: Positive Futures in an Uncertain World

26 MARCH 2013

On 10-12 April 2013, the third triennial Icon Conference will take place in Glasgow, UK. The conference will be held under the theme "Positive Futures in an Uncertain World".

Icon PF13Icon’s second triennial conference will provide a platform for international exchange of up-to-date developments in conservation of cultural heritage. It will also be the essential networking event for conservation and related professionals in the UK for the next five years.

“In 2010, the University of Glasgow welcomed the arrival of a new MPhil Textile Conservation which joined with the MLittTechnical Art History within the new Centre for Textile Conservation and Technical Art History. We are absolutely delighted to be working in partnership with the Head of School of Culture and Creative Arts, Professor Nick Pearce, and colleagues to deliver the conference.

Icon’s second triennial conference will inspire conservation professionals and all those working in the increasingly challenging and uncertain circumstances of today’s heritage sector. We will aspire to build Positive Futures for cultural heritage and the profession. In spite of funding cuts and staff losses, conservators are working with others to find new ways to care for and connect with our cultural heritage. The conference will explore and debate how we can develop our capacity to respond in uncertain times.” (Source: Icon website)
