Maria Segarra

Maria Segarra is the Director of Training and Competitiveness Department at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Barcelona. In her current role, she is responsible for promoting SMEs’ growth and improving the overall approach to entrepreneurship through cooperation, increasing the knowledge of the sector through studies, conferences, training (in-company and on-line), workshops as well as identifying obstacles to the sustainable development of SMEs and preparing proposals and policy recommendations to address them. Since 2011 she is also leading its Office of European Projects.

She has been with the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce for over 15 years in roles of increasing responsibility. In her career highlights her expertise in the retail sector, a fact that entitled her to lead numerous projects and to participate in various working committees both, at chambers of commerce and public administration levels. She also authored several publications and collaborates with some business schools teaching at their master programs.

Maria has a degree in law from the University of Barcelona and also holds a Master on Urban and Regional Economy from the University of Barcelona, and a Diploma as Commercial Technical Advisor from both, the Centre de Formation des Assistants Techniques du Commerce– CEFAC (Paris, France)and the Instituto Formazione Operatori Aziendali– IFOA (Reggio Emilia, Italy).
