3 DECEMBER 2012

We Want Cinema, a startup from the Netherlands which provides an online platform that allows movie-goers to decide what films are shown in the theater, took the top spot at the Creative Business Cup in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Creative Business Cup is a featured activity of Global Entrepreneurship Week. The competition provided finalists from 17 countries a chance at a prize package worth about $50,000 US dollar.

This year, the prestigious prize went to We Want Cinema entrepreneur Marieke Jonker, who was thereby hailed as this year’s best new global entrepreneur from the creative industries.

Holding the Creative Business Cup during Global Entrepreneurship Week reminds the world that creativity and innovation are at the heart of entrepreneurship” said Jonathan Ortmans, president of Global Entrepreneurship Week and Creative Business Cup jury member.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark presented the awards together with Deputy Director General Anders Hoffmann, the Business Authority of Denmark, the jury and Managing Director Rasmus Wiinstedt Tscherning, CKO.
