ECCL experiments with Creative Cluster Collaboration

26 FEBRUARY 2014

One of the concrete actions of European Creative Cluster – ECCL project is to experiment dynamic and profitable collaboration between Creative Clusters. This action started more than one year ago through the ECCL Partner Lille Métropole.

ECCL exchangeLille Métropole launched an active collaboration between creative clusters within its territory. The first part of this effort for CC collaboration includes a survey led by “Kea European Affairs” consultants, who recommended a set of actions and provided some advices to support collaboration between CCI clusters. The results of the survey are now available in one of the ECCL publications “Strategic Diagnostic of Cultural and Creative Industries in Lille”, presented during a big event organized on the 5th of February to gather CCI stakeholders of Lille Métropole and to debate and work about KEA recommendations and collaborative actions.

Exchanging staff
Staff exchanges is the other key pilot identified to encourage knowledge spill over, cross-problematic understanding and integration of best professional practices and common activities between Clusters.  Plaine Images (cluster for digital creativity and innovation) and Lille Design (design cluster) have initiated the first one. They decided to start the staff exchanges with one day of full immersion in each cluster, in order to define the most relevant topics to be addressed during the following days of exchanges. Indeed, this is essential to really be familiar with daily activities before choosing working topics.

Target topics
Topics that would be part of the staff exchanges are already targeted, even if they will certainly evolve after the full immersion:

  • working together on a common event about interactive graphic design;
  • promoting CCI in traditional sectors;
  • developing practices of business intelligence.

Other staff exchanges will be implemented in Lille Métropole in 2014: Maisons de Mode will work with other clusters about incubation methods, sharing of expertise, and internationalization. A further action will concern the testing of pilot actions to foster CCI clusters cross collaboration with traditional productive sectors.
