The capital of Catalonia was the vibrant centre of the ECIA Policy Learning Platform meeting on June 5th and 6th, 2013. The conference focused on Access to Finance.

BizBarcelona in Figures

  • In the finance market alone, Bizbarcelona has provided over 1,800 meetings between entrepreneurs and investment institutions with a joint potential credit close to 100 million Euros.
  • Most of the projects presented by new entrepreneurs fall within the following sectors: ICT, industrial, clean technology, electronic trade, health sciences and biotechnology.
  • 120 participants participated in the ECIA conference on Access to Finance at Bizbarcelona.
  • Activity in Bizbarcelona has been frenetic, attracting over 12.000 visitors, including SMEs, self-employed professionals and entrepreneurs.
  • The show has also hosted 196 conferences; 306 speakers; 533 business and 120 international advice sessions; 101 exhibitors; 145 meetings between entrepreneurs in search of advice and executives; 10 networking spaces to find partners, collaborators, entrepreneurs to take over existing businesses, franchisees, suppliers and finance; 510 speed networking contacts; 151 BizCommunity institutions; 68 video-pitch recordings.

ECIA’s Access to Finance Conference at Bizbarcelona
The conference aimed to provide a wide scope of the key issues and challenges related to access to finance (such as existing trends, next practices and opportunities for cultural and creative industries (CCIs) at European level.

The audience of the conference was mainly composed of two groups: the SMEs and entrepreneurs attending the wider bizbarcelona event; and the regional, national and European policymakers from the cultural and creative domains and the industrial policies.

Presentation Culture-Entrepreneurship
Mr. Joost Heinsius (Manager Knowledge & Innovation, Cultuur-Ondernemen) gave a presentation on his organisation Cultuur-Ondernemen (‘Culture-Entrepreneurship’), which stimulates entrepreneurship of cultural organisations and independent artists and creatives.
