7 JANUARY 2013

The final months of 2012 witnessed the launch of a major new project that seeks to stimulate the development of the creative industries sector across Ireland and Northern Europe.

The Creative Edge project was launched by the National University of Ireland (NUI) in Galway. It aims are to help creative businesses in Ireland, and the rest of Northern Europe, export to new markets and nurture emerging creative talent.

The Creative Edge has a budget of €1.1 million, and is funded by the Northern Periphery Programme under Interreg 4C.

The NUI website describes the project as follows:
‘The ’Creative Edge’ project brings together universities, development agencies and industry bodies from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Finland and Sweden to identify the current breadth and future scope of the creative economy in peripheral regions. The project seeks to put in place a number of measures that will promote creative industries in peripheral regions.’
